Two of our favorite sounds ...

Two days until launch ...

Launch is in two days and to build some excitement we wanted to let you experience two of our favorite sounds from the podcast’s soundscape. Below are snippets of the sounds along with explanations from our lovely engineer Jordan!

"CAN IT":

Canon or Can It is one of our narrative segments on the show. The idea is that we're looking at the literary canon and deciding what should stay and what should go. To get a big sound that cut through the mix was my goal here since there is other music and sound design going on. So I turned up the pitch and speed of a trash can sound effect from a foley library. We also layered it with some low end rumble to give it some extra effect.

"BOOKSHELF":

Since we end each episode with a game where Bethanne has a time limit to recommend six books, we wanted a fun sound to come in to signify when she lost. Enter the falling bookshelf, which is a layering of several falling sounds treated with some SoundToys plug-ins to make things feel bigger. 

Both of these effects are core to the show's identity and I can't wait for you to hear them in our show!
